Brian Alder Seeks Third Cooper Tire Prototype Lites Championship for TOP 1 OIL

Returning in his third Cooper Tire Prototype Lites’ season, Brian Alder arrived at Sebring International Raceway picking up right where he left off in 2014. Alder put his No. 22 Top1 Oil Mazda powered prototype on the pole for race one, setting a new qualifying lap record along the way, breaking the previous record he set in 2014. As luck would have it, while leading , a right rear suspension failure in one of the fastest corners on the track ended his race with just 10 minutes remaining.

In race two, Alder came back with a vengeance. He not only garnered a flag-to-flag victory, he reset his own race lap record.

The IMSA Cooper Tire Prototype Lites series was at Sebring International Raceway as part of the 63rd running of the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida. Since 1952, world class drivers have gathered at Sebring International Raceway. While the course has changed from its original configuration that included active runways of the Sebring Airport, the 3.74-mile, 17-turn circuit still has unchanged sections of the original course.

“I felt good,” Alder said. “I was disappointed in the race yesterday. I’m not sure we had the same pace today, but the Top 1 Oil car ran strong all day. I ran very consistent laps with no mistakes… basically a flawless race.”

“It’s really good to be back with Top1 oil for another season,” added Brian. Especially as we go for our 3rd consecutive Lites L2 championship. It was nice to start 2015, where we finished 2014… on the top step of the podium. Plus, it was like a bonus setting a new qualifying lap record and race lap record … breaking the records I set last year.”

The next stop for the IMSA Lites is New Orleans Motorsports Park, April 10-12, 2015.
